Minimum Subject Requirements To Pursue Degree in Education Arts and Sciences
Deciding to pursue a degree in Education, whether in Arts or Sciences, is an admirable choice. Teaching extends beyond just a job; it is a vocation aimed at influencing lives and nurturing future generations. However, prior to embarking on this journey, it is essential to comprehend the minimum subject requirements necessary to be eligible for either area.
For a Bachelor of Education (Arts), students typically require a minimum grade of C+ (plus) in KCSE. More explicitly, you must have achieved at least a C+ in the two teaching subjects you intend to focus on. For instance, if your goal is to teach History and Kiswahili, you need to have scored a C+ or higher in both subjects. Proficiency in English is also vital, as effective communication skills are a cornerstone in Arts education.
For a Bachelor of Education (Science), the standards are somewhat elevated due to the technical nature of science subjects. Again, a minimum of C+ overall is required, but you also need a C+ in Mathematics, English, and in the specific science subjects you plan to teach, such as Biology, Chemistry, or Physics.
These prerequisites ensure that aspiring teachers are academically equipped to manage the content they will later convey. Ultimately, teaching begins with learning, and being well-prepared is the initial step toward becoming an outstanding educator.
